When is Salvation? A Lenten Challenge

Updated: Feb 22, 2023

In this session Tony Forrest asks the question, if Jesus came to suffer for our salvation, what about those people who were here before Christianity? Were they saved? When did God offer up salvation? Also in this session we talk about our preparation for Lent. And, we have a challenge for you. Listen to the end and you will understand.

At the end of the day, on Mardi Gra (Fat Tuesday, February 22) at 11:45 p.m. we will start up a Zoom call that you can participate in. We will talk about our start-of-Lent three day challenge, beginning at Midnight on Ash Wednesday and ending at Midnight on Friday, February 24, 2023. Join us on the call by clicking this link. We look forward to talking with you and providing you a start-of-Lent prayer and blessing.

Deacon so thankful you suggested this 3 day fast. Plan on doing it again beginning Holy Thursday. It made me aware of so many things of myself. I was distracted and should have prayed more when I felt the hunger pains but work kept me very busy this week and being my first 3 day fast was trying to figure out my body's reaction. Thank you again.

Question... When we give up something for lent, I've been hearing that since Sundays are a celebration day we can consume that day. Is that ok?

Dolores, my prayers are with you. I hope you were able to use your temptations as a catalyst to pray and offer up the suffering to those who need our prayers.

Day 2 is usually the hardest, and I must say, day 2 is living up to being difficult for me too. Father, we do this for love of you and of our neighbor. Give us the strength to endure, knowing you will provide all we need.

For those who continue to persevere, congratulations, you are almost two-thirds through this fast. If you were unable to persevere, know that you have not failed, God loves you for trying. That is what God wants from us anyway ... that we continue…

Ok now I'm freezing 🥶. Good grief.

Tonight will be a test. We have dinner plans with non catholic friends. I'll be sharing that I just fasting but I know those chips will be tempting. I'll just pray silently and remind myself I'm doing this for the Lord. ✝️

Well, we are several hours into a 3-day water only fast. My prayers to all those who have committed to the fast. I look forward to hearing from you about your feelings, prayers and concerns as we begin Lent. God Bless
